Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be on Saturday: Met department

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Thursday has stated that the Shawal’s moon is expected to be sighted on Friday.
While stating that the Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be on Saturday, Met office said that there are fewer chances of the moon being cited today.
Met office stated that today at sunset the moon will be 19 hours and three minutes old, whereas, the moon can only be sighted if it is 26 hours and 42 minutes old.
It further said that they have forwarded the details about moon’s age to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The meeting of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headed by Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman, is scheduled today.
The meetings of zonal committees would be held in provincial capitals, moreover, on sighting the moon citizens can inform the zonal committee.
Officials of astrology department would also attend the session, however, Mufti Muneeb will announce the sighting of the moon.
